The news has been announced that Vocus, a cloud-based marketing and PR software company, has acquired iContact for $169 Million in cash and stock. The iContact company is well known for its email marketing platform. The two companies are teaming up to deliver a complete marketing suite for small and medium-sized businesses.
iContact offers extensive reporting on email marketing campaigns and integrates with Facebook and Twitter for launching social campaigns. Currently iContact has some 70,000 customers, 250 employees and 1 million users.

The Vocus marketing suite includes search marketing, social marketing and publicity to help businesses identify and build relationships with prospects and customers. Now, businesses will be able to reinforce these relationships with professional-quality email campaigns.
After the acquisition announcement, Vocus stock value on NASDAQ went down 40%.
