5 effective list growth tactics

MarketingExperiments has posted the 5 effective list growth tactics that are most favored by marketers surveyed for the MarketingSherpa Email Marketing Benchmark Report.
For 63% of marketers surveyed, list growth and retention is a marketing goal.
The number one effective list growth tactic, with 63% of the votes, is registration during a purchase. This tactic is of course only applicable to ecommerce organizations, but still it’s good to see it’s effective.
Second place is for the website registration page. Sometimes left out  (I really wonder why), and sometimes hidden at the bottom of a web page, it is still deemed as very effective by 39% of marketers.
Third, fourth and fifth most effective list growth tactics are online events (37%), offline events (31%) and paid search (26%). In case you haven’t set up an AdWords campaign yet to boost subscribers for your email lists, this might be the right time to do so. The results might surprise you. And not just for subscriptions but from paid traffic in general.
