The people over at Dropbox (a service which I use) have a mobile app available: what better way to promote it than through a mobile email marketing campaign?
Here’s the email I recently received:
Nothing more than that – and in this case, it’s a good thing. A simple header, a clear call to action button and a subtle P.S. text about extra space free. What’s so smart about this email is that the button will work fine on mobile devices where people do not load images by default: the ‘Go mobile’ text is regular text, and not encapsulated in the image. Therefor, when people don’t download images on mobile (which happens quite more often than on desktop clients), the text-link will still be visible. Nice!
I expect these types of single purpose mobile email marketing messages to pup up more often in the near future, as people check email more often on mobile than on their desktops, but spend less time on actual handling of their email (inbox triage is the magic word here). A short, single purpose message will fit the bill nicely when your target audience is mobile users. Well done Dropbox in this case.
