The trouble is, once you really get into the email groove i.e. replying and composing new messages, others might pick up on that and join you, which allows for a watershed of messages coming in every few minutes or so.
Do they all have to be replied to within a few minutes? If yes, then maybe a phone call or face to face meeting might fix things faster than email. If not, than leave it be until you go and handle your email in a dedicated fashion – it’s better than checking email all the time: it kills productivity. Hence, the email cycle as shown above.
