The comScore US smartphone market share for February 2015 has been released.
In total, 186.3 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones (76.6% mobile market penetration) during the three months ending in February, up 5% since November 2014. Apple ranked as the top OEM (original equipment manufacturer) with 41.7 % of U.S. smartphone subscribers. Samsung ranked second with 28.6% market share, followed by LG with 8.3% (up 0.7% from November 2014), Motorola with 5.1% and HTC with 3.8% (up 0.1%). The results are based on a 3 month average ending February 2015 vs. 3 month average ending November 2014 and U.S. Smartphone Subscribers Age 13+.
The top smartphone platforms are Android, which ranked as the number one smartphone platform in February with 52.8% market share (up 0.2% from November), 2nd Apple with 41.7%, Microsoft with 3.5% (up 0.1%), BlackBerry with 1.8% and Symbian with 0.1%. The results are based on a 3 month average ending February 2015 vs. 3 month average ending November 2014 and U.S. Smartphone Subscribers Age 13+.
Looking at the top smartphone apps for February 2015, Facebook sits at the top of the list with a reach of 71.2% of the audience. YouTube comes in second at 56.4% and Google Search third at 52.5%. The most used email app is Gmail which sits at 7th place with 42.9%.
The statistics are based on Android and iOS apps, and U.S. smartphone mobile media users age 18+ in February 2015.
